Convocation

I was in KL last weekend for my convocation which was held at the MMU campus in Cyberjaya. I drove up on a rainy Friday morning with Zhao and Joey in my car. It started pouring right after i woke up and it continued all the way to Cyberjaya. We were a little late for the rehearsal but i guess that didnt matter much. We met a few of our Alpha friends that day and it was nice seeing and talking to them again after a long time. I wish we were in Alpha again because Group 9 rocked. We had such great time together.

After the rehearsal, we had to verify our smartcard and collect out robes. The amount of people queueing up to verify their smartcards was just insane. So, we decided to collect our robes first and then proceed for lunch at Alamanda. We verified our smartcards after coming back from lunch and by then, there was just a few people verifying their smartcards. The people manning the counters were so free that when i stepped my foot into the room, the lady in front of me went "Mari dik. Verify kat sini." We definitely made a good decision to get lunch first. Muahahahahaha.

On my convocation day, my parents and i left my aunt's place at 6:15 in the morning and we reached MMU at about 6:50. After i got down from the car, i met Siew Har and her parents at the carpark making their way to the new FIT building, which is next to the Convocation Hall. So, i went to verify my smartcart (we had to do it again!) with her and then we gathered at the waiting area with Siew Lin and Gary. My parents made their way to the hall first to get some seats to sit down.

Anyway, to cut the long story short, because i'm obviously damn lazy to write the whole experience in the hall here, we had to sit in the hall from about 8am till 1pm. That's 5 freaking hours for those who cant do the math. I was damn hungry by the time the thing was done but i was lucky (more smart than lucky actually) i brought a long a muesli bar with me into the hall. That bar saved me from starving to death in the hall. And Vivien was lucky she was sitting beside me because she had a bite or two of the muesli bar. She didnt eat anything before coming for the convocation.

Singing the Permata Dunia was a really poignant moment. The last time we sang the song was during our orientation. We sang it everyday but we didnt really sing it wholeheartedly at the time. However, at the convocation, singing the Permata Dunia brought a whole different meaning. I realised that this song introduced me to the university 5 years ago and now i'm saying my goodbyes to it. I'm priviledged to have crossed paths with so many people there and to have experienced so many different things in my university life. When you think of these things while listening to the song, your university life seems almost surreal. When everyone was singing the song at the convo, you can see a few with tears in their eyes. The impact of the song at that moment was simply incredible.

Anyway, i'll leave you with some photos of my convocation (the rest are at my Webshots) and the Permata Dunia lyrics.
