Accident

I met wif an accident today. Exactly a week after my previous accident, my knee injury. This time it involved my car. There's an old expression that says bad luck comes in threes. I've had 2 already and I wonder what could be next. I hope the expression wont come true though. Anyway here's the story of my accident this afternoon.

I was driving to Kg. 8 to have lunch wif my family. My mom and 2 sisters were in my car. I turned left into Lorong Pandan after the TES traffic light and was driving behind a blue Wira and the blue Wira was driving behind a red Wira. The red Wira was actually forced to turn into Lorong Pandan because he was trying to cut the queue at the traffic lights. He was actually heading to Tengkera but he kept to the left lane at the traffic lights. Unknown to him, the traffic lights will turn green for the cars to turn left into Lorong Pandan first before turning green for the cars to go straight to Tengkera. So, he had to turn left into Lorong Pandan and make a U-turn to turn back and go to Tengkera.

We were following this stupid red Wira when he kept a little to the left of the lane and swerved to the right to make a U-turn and it was a double line road. When he swerved to the right, the blue Wira had to make an emergency braking procedure to avoid the red Wira. He wasn't successful and he hit the side of the red Wira's bumper making a small hole. I also had to make an emergency braking procedure to avoid ramming the blue Wira. I wasn't successful and I rammed into the back of the blue Wira. When this happened, the driver of the blue Wira, Din, jumped straight out of his seat and began chasing after the driver of the red Wira, shouting at him to pull over. The driver was actually trying to cabut after causing this accident. Luckily he got scared and pulled his car over to the side of the road.

I was the last one to come out of my car. I was kind of in shock actually because I've never been in a major accident before. I came out and look at the front of my car. It was kind of wrecked but not terribly. Both head lights were smashed, bonnet was bent a bit and the bumper had dropped a little. Thankfully no major damage to the engine and stuff. The car can still be driven anyway.

I went to discuss wif Din and the other driver. Mom and my sisters were there talking already. The red Wira driver was a young chap idiot wif a cap on and there were a few girls in the car. He has this "tidak apa" attitude about the accident and the girls were seen smiling and giggling as if nothing major had happened. This kind of pissed me off a little. Luckily Din didn't shout or scold me for ramming the back of his car. He told me that it wasn't my fault and that I didn't have time to avoid hitting him. At least he's being rational and understanding.

I then went to check his car. His wife was sitting in the passenger seat carrying her baby. The baby was crying loudly and I felt really bad. I apologised to her, told her I'm sorry for ramming her car and causing all these trouble. She gave me a weak smile. I hope the baby is ok because it was quite a big shock to him/her.

By this time, a crowd had gathered around the scene of the accident and an old pak cik on a motorcycle wif 2 kids was shouting instructions around. He told the idiot to go to the police station to make a police report. He also scolded my elder sister for asking for the idiot's name, driver's license, handphone number etc. He was making more noise than any of those involved in the accident. This pak cik was scolding everyone in sight and shouted at us when we asked the idiot questions. He then accused us of being racists for bombarding the idiot with questions and asking for his details. I ignored him because it's not worth it to argue with people with this kind of mentality. This kind of people like to bring race into every issue.

Anyway, those workshop operators touts were also at the scene within 10-15 minutes of the accident. Their efficiency and speed really amazed me. How I wish those working in the public sector are as efficient and fast as them. Luckily the tout's workshop is one of the panel workshops for my car's insurance, AIG. They advised us on what to do and to leave the rest to them. They called for a tow truck to tow my car to the workshop while my family and me went for lunch.

After lunch, I went to the police station with my dad and 2 aunts. I made a police report and had my statement recorded. Din had already made a report but the idiot still hasn't. He's probably bragging about it somewhere with those girls in his car. After having my statement recorded, I had to go for an interview with the Sergeant who had gone to the scene to do the skecthes. He told me that he will probably have to issue a compound to me because I drove too close to the Din's car and was also at fault. I nodded and didn't want to argue.

He then proceeded to ask me questions regarding the accident like how many lanes were there in Lorong Pandan?, on which lane did the accident happen?, did u see the blue Wira in front of you? etc. When he asked me how fast was I driving when the accident occur, I answered 60km/h. After the interview, my dad told me that I should've said 40 or 50km/h. I told him I was travelling at about that speed and I don't like to lie and I wasn't brought up to lie. Honesty is a very important principle in my life. I don't like to lie and I don't like to be lied to. He said ok and we went home.

The workshop guy told me that my car will take about 3 weeks to fix. Now I don't have a car to drive around so going for classes will be a little challenging. I've not asked ccw whether I can tumpang him to school and back. I feel bad about this because I don't want to trouble him. I'll just have to see how things work out.

Look at my sayang. Sigh...sad man. Hope I can have my sayang back soon.

P/S: The idiot's car number is WEK 7706

OUCH!! i've met such idiots before too..

just the other day a young malay punk rammed into the back of my car...also with some chicks.. i guess that fella must have followed my car too closely...well... i made him pay me a total of 100 bucks!!
cozz the damage to the back of my car was quite bad.. the whole back part of my car was smashed... the bumper fell out and there's a great big dent at the back of my car and my number plate broke into two... haha...

so even if you're a cautious driver.. you must be aware of such idiotic and senseless drivers on the road...as well...
